Mrs. Attu had some upstairs windows to cover, and thought that bamboo wood looks the best with the decoration scheme she’d planned. She wanted to use typical indoor roller-mounts for the new shades, but the room’s low ceiling made that impractical. There was more space above the window on the outside, so she decided on exterior bamboo roller shades.
We needed to install a support frame above the window outside to attach the roller to, so our operation started with frame extension. There was a dramatic adventure involving a wasp nest here, but fortunately no human casualties. Once we’d secured the new wood and steel support, we added tracks to the vertical window frame outside of the pane. We installed a flexible sheet of thin bamboo stems to the roller and fed the drawstring in above the window frame. Then it was time to repeat the process on the second window. No wasps by this one.
